Single Women

Single women seeking fertility treatments have various options to realise their dream of motherhood.

It’s essential for single women to consult with fertility specialists to determine the most suitable treatment based on their unique circumstances, reproductive health, and family-building goals. A personalized treatment plan, taking into account factors such as age, overall health, and fertility status, can optimize the chances of successful conception and a healthy pregnancy.

What Options Are Available For Single Women?

Single women have several fertility treatment options available to help them achieve their goal of starting a family. The choice of treatment depends on individual circumstances, health, and personal preferences. Here are common fertility treatments for single women:

1 - ICSI

ICSI is a specialised form of IVF where a single sperm is directly injected into an egg, particularly beneficial in cases of male factor infertility.

ICSI is essential if there is any doubt that fertilisation of an egg may not occur. It is frequently used in conjunction with IVF, especially for any male factor issues but is not exclusively used for male factor problems.

Single women can choose to undergo insemination with donor sperm. This involves the introduction of donor sperm into the reproductive system, either through intrauterine insemination (IUI) or IVF.

Egg freezing, or oocyte cryopreservation, allows women to preserve their eggs for future use. This is beneficial for those who want to delay childbearing for personal or professional reasons.

Single women who may have difficulty conceiving with their own eggs can consider using donor eggs in IVF. The donated eggs are fertilized with sperm, and the resulting embryos are transferred to the woman’s uterus.

Surrogacy involves a gestational carrier carrying and delivering the baby on behalf of the single woman. This option is suitable for those unable to carry a pregnancy due to medical reasons or personal choice.

Single women with certain fertility challenges may benefit from fertility medications to stimulate ovulation, coupled with IUI to increase the chances of conception.
