ICSI

Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) is and advanced assisted reproductive technology designed to help individuals and couples overcome fertility challenges.

ICSI is a specialised form of IVF where a single sperm is directly injected into an egg, particularly beneficial in cases of male factor infertility.

Who Is Suitable For ICSI?

ICSI is a specialized fertility treatment ideal for couples facing male fertility factors that may hinder the fertilization process during conventional IVF. Men with low sperm count, poor sperm motility, or abnormal sperm morphology may benefit from ICSI.

Additionally, couples who have experienced failed fertilization attempts with traditional IVF due to male factor issues can also consider ICSI as an effective solution.

At First IVF, our skilled fertility specialists carefully assess each individual case to determine the most suitable treatment plan, including whether ICSI is the right option for you. Contact us today to schedule a consultation and explore how ICSI can help you achieve your dream of parenthood

What's the Difference Between IVF & ICSI?

The primary difference between IVF and ICSI lies in the method of fertilization. While IVF relies on natural sperm penetration of the egg in a laboratory dish, ICSI involves the direct injection of a single sperm into the egg.

What Does ICSI Involve?

Step 1 - Ovarian Stimulation

The process begins with ovarian stimulation, where fertility medications are administered to encourage the development of multiple eggs. Close monitoring ensures optimal follicle growth, and hormone levels are tracked through blood tests and ultrasounds.

Throughout the stimulation phase, our dedicated team provides continuous support and monitors your progress closely. Adjustments to medication dosage may be made based on real-time assessments, ensuring the best possible conditions for egg maturation.

Once the eggs reach the desired maturity, a minor surgical procedure, known as egg retrieval, is performed. Simultaneously, the male partner provides a sperm sample or a donor’s sperm is taken. These components are then processed in the laboratory for the upcoming stages.

In the laboratory, mature eggs are combined with sperm through a process called insemination. This step mimics the natural fertilization process, allowing the sperm to penetrate the egg and initiate fertilization.

Following insemination, the embryologist monitors fertilization and tracks embryo development. Culturing the embryos for several days allows the team to identify viable and healthy embryos for potential transfer.

In this pivotal step, one or more selected embryos are transferred into the uterus. The procedure is usually quick and minimally invasive. The number of embryos transferred is determined based on factors like age, health, and specific fertility circumstances.

Approximately 10-14 days after embryo transfer, a pregnancy test is conducted to determine the success of the procedure. Regardless of the outcome, First IVF remains steadfast in providing emotional support, guidance, and further consultations to address any concerns or plan for the next steps.
